NEWS ABOUT LEANNA

(I know the image isn't great but I like it anyway. This is me and my baby sister, Leanna)

Leanna's sister is guest blogging again today.
Most of you already know about this but just in case I am going to give an update. Please pray for Leanna and her family.

Things took an unexpected turn while I was visiting my sister. My sister was complaining of back pain about 3 hours after I got there. The next morning she was in so much pain she was throwing up and said she needed to go to the ER. I took her Wed. (3-18) morning. They found a 5 mil. kidney stone and admitted her. (Apparently, she had one 4-5 yrs. but I didn't know about it.) This is day 6 for her. They have given her morphine and she is currently on Demerol and sometimes they added vicodin to it also. She is either about to pass from out from the meds (sleepy) or alert but in pain. They did surgery on her and put a stint in her ureter. It was supposed to open up the ureter to keep the urine from being blocked and hurting her kidneys. They said her kidneys look great so that is good. The doctor told her yesterday that he has never seen a case this bad for kidney stones. He looks like he is in his early to mid 60's so I bet he has seen a lot.

They are planning to send her to have a procedure done in another hospital. It is called, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy. Shock waves that are created outside the body travel through the skin and body tissues until they hit the denser stones. The stones break down into small particles and are easily passed through the urinary tract in the urine.

Then they will see if they can send her home. I am hoping it is no later than Tuesday but we will see. She hasn't eaten hardly anything since Wed around 6 pm. She is really nauseas and they are also giving her meds for that. They need that to stop so she can eat. They also need the pain to be controlled without IV drugs before they will send her home. At this point they give her Demerol and it lasts for 2 hours. Usually, 30-45 minutes before it wears off she starts wondering when they will give her more. This has been a long difficult process for Leanna and her entire family.

Today, Donny (her hubby) has to have a procedure done in the hospital. It isn't major but they will put him to sleep for that.

Please, pray for all of them.

To Leanna: When you get back home and are feeling better I want you to know I LOVE YOU! xoxoxoxox

Healing Hands!

This event was canceled and will be done later.

Hi to everyone! Just a fast update and a request of prayer. Zackery will be going to Childrens Mercy in the morning 3-5-09. They will be putting him under so that they can complete and MRI on him. They are looking for anything that could help them understand his seizures better and even possibly help them medicate him with a better medication. This would allow him to have LESS seizers so that he can have MORE baby/toddler fun and LESS hospital stays and visits. Mom and dad would love for this to happen to!!!!! Please pray for us to also have a safe trip there and back. Our love to all!!!
